These little fishing shacks on Turbat Creek were once called "sweep outs." The story I was told is that when the tide rises at a certain time of year, folks open their doors and "sweep out" the water. These are now considered summer homes for many. One lady in particular also has her winter home in Kennebunkport. It is about two streets over from here.
I painted this little moody little piece one brisk morning when the fog was just lifting.
