Hockaday Museum
of Art
This exhibit will feature the works of critically acclaimed artists from the United States and Canada who have created pieces inspired by Waterton-Glacier International Peace Park.
This exhibition is the first of its kind, bringing together artists from two countries to showcase the wild, natural beauty of the world’s first International Peace Park, established in 1932. And it comes at a crucial moment in the park’s history.
Plans for A Timeless Legacy: Peace Park 2018 were already in motion when lightning sparked devastating wildfires throughout the park in 2017. Some of the works in this show capture the park before the destruction. Others will show the aftermath, as new growth and life returns to the scorched terrain.
Artists will present a mixture of plein air and studio works from each of the national parks on exhibit. Also included in the exhibition will be sketches, journals, and video, a sort of 'traveling scrap book' of their time working on the project. Artists will be allowed to paint and work on the project from March, 2017 through early July, 2018, allowing every season for painting. All works will be created specifically for this historic project and will not be shown elsewhere before the exhibition. View all my work for the exhibition online.
- Private reception for artists, guests, and sponsors: Aug. 10, 2018.
- Ticketed Intent-to-Draw Sale Open to the Public Aug. 11, 2018.

Events such as workshops, demonstrations, and lectures during the opening weekend and throughout the exhibition are in planning stages. Lori will be teaching August 6–8 inside Glacier National Park. Visit the website, www.hockadaymuseum.org to find out more about this premier, historic event.
